Vision and Values

Vision and Values

At Rokeby School, our motto reflects the journey we expect every student to undertake: ‘Dare to be the best.’

Our vision is to cultivate a community where boys are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and values they need to excel in the next stage of their lives—whether that be in further education or the world of work. We strive to create an environment where boys are nurtured to become accomplished young men of integrity, resilience, and ambition, ready to make significant contributions to society.

At Rokeby, we provide our students with opportunities to:

  • Thrive academically and personally, with a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and a range of key skills
  • Experience diverse learning opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Build resilience, succeed through perseverance, and embrace personal challenges
  • Develop a lifelong passion for learning and an appreciation for community

Our school values are at the core of everything we do:

Respect

We encourage respect for each other’s feelings, beliefs, cultures, and differences. Our students learn to appreciate the environment, from the school grounds to the global stage, and are actively taught to tackle prejudice, discrimination, and injustice.

Success

We believe success comes in many forms and can be achieved by every student, regardless of personal circumstances or ability. We celebrate different kinds of success, using praise, rewards, and recognition to highlight each student’s accomplishments.

Passion for Learning

At Rokeby, we foster a love for learning by encouraging students to develop enquiring minds, explore their ideas, and discover new knowledge. We support independent learning and strive to cater to each boy’s preferred learning style, ensuring a desire for lifelong learning.

Personal Challenge

We teach our students the value of perseverance and the ability to adapt to new situations. At Rokeby, boys rise to challenges with effort and determination, developing the skills and confidence needed to take on leadership roles both within school and beyond.

Harmony

Our school is a calm, peaceful place where students and staff work together in a supportive environment. We listen to and understand one another, fostering partnerships that create a safe and harmonious space for everyone in the community.

The Successful Rokeby Student

Will leave us as a well-rounded, skilled individual, ready to take on the world. They will be numerate, literate, and technologically capable, with a sense of responsibility toward themselves and their community. Our boys will be emotionally intelligent, able to work both independently and as part of a team. They will set their own goals, seek advice, and act as role models for younger students.

A Rokeby student will not only achieve academic success but will also develop a deep sense of social responsibility, physical and mental well-being, and a keen awareness of local, national, and global issues. They will have the ambition and drive to succeed in life, equipped with the flexibility to apply their skills in a variety of settings.

Our boys will want to contribute to their school, community, and society, continuing their journey into further education, employment, or training with confidence. We are proud to foster young men who will stand up for what they believe in and act as ambassadors for Rokeby School.
