Curriculum

At Rokeby, we offer a broad and balanced curriculum that prepares students for further education and employment, equipping them with the qualifications, knowledge, skills, and values they need to succeed.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 & 9)

Our Key Stage 3 curriculum spans three years, allowing students to study the full range of national curriculum subjects and build a strong foundation for Key Stage 4 and beyond.
– Core subjects like English, Maths, and Science are taught in ability sets to stretch the most able and provide support where needed.
– All other subjects are taught in tutor groups, fostering strong academic and pastoral relationships.

At Key Stage 3, students study:

– Maths
– English
– Science
– Languages (French or Spanish)
– History
– Geography
– Religious Education
– Technology (Graphics, Product Design, Engineering, STEM and Food Technology)
– Computer Science
– Art
– Wellbeing
– Music
– Physical Education
– Dance
– RSHE/PSHE, integrated across the curriculum subjects in both KS3 and KS4.

Additionally, students literate in a community language are encouraged to take a GCSE in that language before the end of Key Stage 3.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 & 11)

At Key Stage 4, students continue studying core curriculum subjects while selecting two ‘option’ subjects that align with their interests and career aspirations. This provides a broad range of academic qualifications to support future studies and career pathways.

Students choose their GCSE options in Year 9. For detailed course content and assessment information, refer to our Year 9 Options Booklet.

Core Subjects

– English Language
– English Literature
– Maths
– Science
– French or Spanish

– Physical Education

Option Subjects

Further Maths and Statistics are also offered as additional qualifications for interested students.

Students may occasionally need to access learning materials online, and we use Google Classroom as our learning platform. Additional subject-specific resources are listed in our document here.
