Inclusion

Inclusion

Overview

At Rokeby, our vision for inclusion ensures that all students, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) or other barriers to learning, receive the support they need to access a broad and balanced curriculum.

We provide support for a range of special educational needs, including:

  • Communication and interaction needs
  • Cognition and learning difficulties
  • Social, emotional and mental health challenges
  • Physical and sensory needs

We follow a graduated approach (assess, plan, do, review) to inform decisions on how to best support each student. Vulnerable Student Panels provide opportunities for staff to share information and reflect on the most effective way forward.

Parents, carers, and students are involved at every stage, whether adding or removing a student from the SEN register or referring them for further support and diagnosis through external agencies.

Our dedicated team, which includes Pastoral Managers, Attendance Officers, Higher-Level Teaching Assistants, Teaching Assistants, Inclusion Teachers, and Classroom Practitioners, work collaboratively to ensure our classrooms are inclusive, with all necessary adjustments made. We also partner with the NHS and other specialist organizations to provide tailored support. Additionally, we draw on the experience across Newham Community Learning to implement best practices and continuously improve our provision.

For more information

Our SEND and Disability Policy and Information Report, which includes our arrangements for accessibility, contains detailed information about our provision for all our students.

For any questions or to arrange a visit, please contact our SENDCo, Johanna Galligan, who can be reached on info@rokeby.ncltrust.net.
